We are a leader in the development, implementation and management of sugar cane-based energy projects in the Philippines. In 2006, we completed development of the first integrated cane-based ethanol and power cogeneration plant in Asia to be located on Negros Island of the Philippines. Since early 2009, San Carlos Bioenergy has been capable of an annual production of 40 million liters of fuel ethanol, 40 million kilograms of sugar syrup and 60 million kw hours of renewable electricity.
Since 2010, we have been working to expand on this experience by developing additional power capacity to help achieve the country’s goals of energy independence and sustainable development. San Carlos BioPower, an 18MW biomass plant scheduled for start of operation by the end of 2013, will provide 120 million kw hours per year to the grid. Two further projects of a similar size are also in development and are scheduled thereafter to meet the growing demand for power amidst an economic resurgence. Outside the factory, we work backwards to develop, improve and sustain biomass feedstock and fuels, and forwards to provide fuel logistics, storage and infrastructure solutions.
Established in 2003 by Zabaleta & Company and Bronzeoak Limited of the UK, Bronzeoak Philippines is the market leader in our industry and recently tied up with the Swiss-German ThomasLloyd Group to expand our business. Borne from this success, Bronzeoak Asia-Pacific further expands our efforts into the United States and the rest of the Asia-Pacific. Bronzeoak Clean Energy, an investment partnership with the Majent Group and US-based FE Clean Energy, provides equity and investment towards building clean, sustainable, biomass-based energy facilities.
